1. Do you offer mobile or cell phone insurance?
At this moment in time, we do not offer mobile or cell phone insurance. This is something we are looking into for the future. There are many insurance companies around today that will be able to offer insurance to cover loss or theft or your phone. They can also cover loss of funds due to fraudulent use. Have a look around this site as we often advertise companies that offer mobile or cell phone insurance.
2. Why isn't this service free any more?
We have offered the allmynumbers service free for several years now, and as the membership has grown, so has the administration required in maintaining the site and databases. So we've decided it's time to to make a small annual charge to use the service and have set this at £4.95 (or local currency equivalent). We are taking credit card payments via the NOCHEX and PAYPAL system. NOCHEX will allow you to make a payment to us without becoming a member of their service first (UK cards only). Paypal will require you to be a member before you can use their service. Whichever method you use, it will cost you no more than the £4.95 and you can be assured both methods are very secure. To use the NOCHEX system, you must be using a UK credit card, whereas Paypal will accept customers worldwide. Once your payment has been confirmed, you can start using your account. Typically, this only takes a few seconds.
3. Are the phone numbers I store secure?
Yes they are secure. When you register as a user, an allmynumbers database is automatically set up solely for your personal use and is access controlled by the login and and password that you choose when registering. Our servers are protected by up to date security systems which help protect against virus and hacking attacks.
4. Does anybody else have access to the phone numbers I enter into my phonebook?
No. As access to your phonebook is controlled by login name and password, you are the only person who has access to your own records.
5. How many numbers can I store?
There is no upper limit to the number of telephone contacts you can store in your own phonebook. We recommend that every time you come across a new contact, you add it to your allmynumbers phonebook immediately.
6. Can I register more than once?
Yes. You can register as many times as you like, but each registration will require a different login name, and annual membership fee.
7. Can my friends access my records?
If you want to share access to your phonebook, then you will have to tell your friends your login name and password so they could access your details, which we don't encourage. A better solution, is to set up a 'shared' phonebook which is intended to be accessed by several users. This way several people can access the common list via their WAP enabled phones or individual PCs.
8. What do I do if I can't log in?
Login problems can have several causes. Check that you are using the correct login name and password first. Check that your browser is set to accept cookies. Check that your browser is checking for an updated version of the current page, and not taking it from the cache. Try refreshing the page before you login. If all fails, e-mail us to get a temporary password. If you still experience problems logging in, e-mail us here for advice.
9. Can I download my contacts directly into my new mobile phone?
No, so if you lose your mobile or cell phone and need to restore your phonebook to your new phone, you can manually add your contacts back into your phone's memory by copying them from your allmynumbers phonebook. Time consuming, yes - BUT at least you haven't lost all your numbers!! You can also print your contact list in a specially formatted printer friendly format.
10. Can I display all my business contacts only?
Yes you can. After you have logged in, your numbers will be displayed in alphabetical order. Click on the 'search your phonebook here' link and enter 'business' as the search criteria. Click on the search button, and all your business contacts will be displayed. You could do the same for your private numbers as well.
11. Can you allow us to enter several numbers at a time, rather than one by one?
By popular demand, we are in the process of redesigning the input page to cater for multiple additions to your phonebook, rather than one by one. We expect this new functionality to be available soon once testing has been completed.
** As of July 2004 this additional functionality has been implemented. **
12. What is your backup policy?
We backup our databases daily so in the unlikely event of a system failure, your phonebook data could be easily retrieved and restored.
13. Can I download my contacts in .CSV format so I can import them into a spreadsheet?
** As of January 2005 this additional functionality has been implemented. You will need spreadsheet software to import the CSV file into, for example MS Excel.**
You will have to perform some formatting changes to the columns of your spreadsheet so the details can be viewed correctly.
14. Can I use this service on any handset or network?
Yes. The beauty of an account with allmynumbers is that you can have the oldest 'brick' of a handset or the newest high tech model and it doesn't make any difference. You can be on contract or pay-as-you-go, no matter. Unlike other backup providers, allmynumbers.co.uk is totally handset and network independent!
15. Why do your e-mail addresses show DELETE-THIS-PART in the address?
We added this recently in an attempt to combat automated SPAM messages. Some organisations use special software to trawl websites collecting e-mail addresses and then bombard them with SPAM. By including DELETE-THIS-PART in the address, this will cause the address to be invalid should any e-mail trawler pick it up. So any SPAM they send to this address will be bounced back to them. There is of course, a price to pay for for doing this in terms of customer service. If you click on one of our e-mail links, we rely on you to delete the extra text from the e-mail address BEFORE sending a message to us, otherwise your message will be returned to you undeliverable.
Remember that allmynumbers.co.uk is independent of all these mobile phone networks.
If your mobile phone is lost or stolen and you have mobile phone insurance, you should contact the police and your Insurance provider to report any loss or theft. Consider registering with allmynumbers.co.uk sister site allnumbers.com and register your own mobile phone numbers in our easy to use mobile phone directory.
